This year, the team at Lamar Wedding Center discussed with future married couples the inside scoop on all the latest wedding trends. Couples today have such a unique personality and style, which is reflected in everything they do–especially when it comes to their wedding. If you desire to make your wedding day as trendy as possible and at the same time stick within your style and budget, then this article is for you.
Although most of us have lived through two recessions, the economy has not impacted most couples’ spending behavior, especially when it comes to their special day. In fact, they hold todays’ purchasing power in the palms of their hands and are spending more than any other generation to-date. That does not mean that a little savings here and there would hurt, especially when working with a budget. More importantly, couples still depend on wedding professionals like Rita Lamar to help them plan one of the biggest days of their lives. It should be of no surprise that they’re unique style has inspired today’s wedding trends.
Here is what our team learned in working with the many couples that Lamar Wedding Center services:
- Casual weddings. Couples are opting for more casual weddings with nearly 2 in 3 of weddings being semi-formal. This is leading to a decline in popularity for religious institutions and banquet halls, while historical buildings, backyards, fraternal organizational facilities and farms are on the rise.
- Intimate settings. Couples crave small and intimate weddings with an average number of guests being 100 with down-to-earth experiences. For example, outdoor weddings with a more laid-back elegance is trending big. Everything is well-done, but feels organic and natural. Consider ferns and grasses sprouting out from a few deep purple or red dahlias. Couples use tents in preparation for a little inclement weather that could arise. All tastefully simple and intimate.
- Fun elements. Couples have unique and fun personalities with a very creative side. They’re showing this off with food elements such as ice cream sundae stations, chocolate covered bacon, candy and popcorn stations and even cotton candy. Having an after-party is also trending big for the fun couple and their guests who don’t want the party to end! Traditionally this is done back at the couples’ home or hotel.
- Personal experiences. Adding a personal touch that represents the couples’ style is trending really big this year. They want to showcase their personalities with a customized feeling. For example, branded weddings with personalized logos and monograms creating a theme and allowing their style to really shine. Sand pouring for a nautical theme, wearing sneakers, custom T shirts and even super hero socks! All showcasing the couples’ lighthearded personal style.
